about

While the majority of Amir Bresler's House of Arches was recorded with a rotating cast of musicians from his wide network of Tel Aviv's finest — all of whom left the city to join him for these experimental, improvisational sessions — "Day Two" was laid down solo. The track shows Bresler in his element: curious, playing with both electronic and acoustic sounds, and building a fat, funky groove from the ground up. "Day Two" was inspired by Fela Kuti's afrobeat epic "Teacher Don't Teach Me Nonsense," and that song's excited, exploratory feeling shines through loud and clear. This is the sound of a recording studio mastermind set free, all alone, discovering just how far a groove can go.

Thank you Disk Union & Rings for releasing this one as a bonus track on the Japanese CD edition.

He's toured with some of the region’s premier jazz musicians, including iconic bassist Avishai Cohen. Today, Amir's the most in-demand drummer in the Middle East—no one makes your body move quite like him. ... more
